This week I finished putting the handles on both of my pitchers and one of them dried enough to be bisked and I glazed it on monday! I did a shadow green over the top of dark blue leaving room for drippage, but it still stuck to the kiln a little bit. I love it though. The colors blend together beautifully and the dripping looks good as well. It did crawl a little bit though which I do not like, but you can hardly tell with the dark color of the glaze. Also I got my purple bowl back, and the kiln did not get up to temp so its not shiny like it should be, and the glaze did crawl but I love love love how it turned out!! Instead of just a plain purple bowl now, it has a little unintended, but wonderful flare. I also made a very large bowl this week and I'm going to draw swirlies on it to give it some umph and decoration.

This week I had a minature competition in a way with Doug. Sooo, I had to show off my skills a little bit and put him in his place and show him up! We both made pitchers, but mine was better, :) and then I made another one later in the week. Then we both made handles and attached them together. And once again my experience won and my handles turned out slightly better than his. It was fun though. I'm going to give one of them to my mom for mothers day because I didn't get her anything and she has been saying that she wants one! My foot ring on both of them is actually beautifull as well. I'm very excited about them.

This week I made a perfect bowl that was fairly large and as I was trying to pry it off the wheel I stabbed a hole right through it! :( Somehow I was able to mend it up as best as I could and I think it will turn out all right. I also made another bowl that was super off center and completely horrible. I had to let it dry upside down so the whole thing didn't collapse on itself as the wall was too thin in one area to hold the rest up! I footed them though and they'll turn out fine.

I glazed my pie plate and it turned out faabulous!! So I decided to make another one!!! and this one is twice as good! I flared the lip out a little more which looks better and the sides are a little taller I think and its wider. Also I randomly decided to make a really big cylinder and ended up making a vase out of it. It was really scary pulling up the walls that high but I did it and Mrs. Heideman helped my shape it into a vase so I didn't completely destroy it!

This week I finally got around to making my cake plate! I didn't realize that it was basically just an upside down planter so I made mine in two pieces. I made a pie plate type thing and a cylinder with no bottom and attatched the two on the wheel. It's not very large but it is kind of top heavy but I don't care. Its awesome! I also carved a spiral into the top of it for design. Also this week I made a mug and attached a handle to it. I butchered it on the foot ring though so I don't like it very much.. and I made a small bowl that was a failed attempt at making a very large bowl. Oh well. Next week. Also this week I glazed my tea pot!!!!! I love it so much! I had no idea what color scheme to do but I love how it turned out. I just wish the clear hadn't crawled :(

This week I finally got to make my first pie plate and it turned out perfectly! I was really excited about it. I even was able to foot it perfectly and everything! I also made another plate that was wayy better than my previous two. I lifted up the lip more so it was a deeper plate and I like this a lot more. Also I was able to foot it. Both these projects are fairly thin and don't weigh a lot as well so they seem very professional. Now I just can't mess up the glazing. I also glazed my other two plates all white with blue dips on the edges which turned out to look really good. Maybe I'll do that for these two as well.

I didn't make a lot this week, but I glazed a TON! and I got a lot done. Monday, I made two plates to add to my collection; they are pretty thin, but I really like them. Tuesday I was home sick, and wednesday and thursday I spent all period glazing and footing my plates. Also, Rachel was home all week so I had to glaze her projects as well, and I had to scrape the bottom of the buckets to get the glaze out because there was hardly any turquoise OR dark blue left! SO ANNOYING! Mrs. Heideman, we need more glazes please, and thank you! I glazed a couple of my projects with a white and purple, and the white turned out wayy to thin so I re-glazed them, and the purple didn't turn out at all! So I re-glazed those as well... but they still didn't turn out! Third times the charm I guess. Also, I glazed the three projects I made last week a shadow green, and they turned out quite nicely. They're soo cute! Lastly, I glazed more of my projects the blue-turquoise combo, but I ended up glazing them a second time to get more of the pretty green overlap color. It was a long week.

This week we had the Sophomores taking the HSPE so our schedule was all messed up. On monday I made the project in the middle (below) and because I forgot that we had no class tuesday, when I went to foot it on wednesday it was all dry. We had class for over an hour though on wednesday and I made two projects (the ones on the left and right) and I meant for them to be mugs, yet they also dried overnight even and by thursday they were hopeless, and I couldn't foot them. So, all three look similar and none of them have foot rings, but I actually like them how they are. They're not too thick either, so they'll look nice in my growing collection!

I didn't produce much this week, but I finished my tea pot! I made the spout and the handle and attached them both, and I decorated around the lid with little flowers. I was going to pull some clay and decorate the lid as well to make it easier to take off, like a handle, but the clay was too hard and it wouldn't have worked too well. But I'm still really happy with how it turned out, being my first one and all! Also this week, I finally got around to glazing a couple of my projects. I went with the dark blue and the turquoise overlapping, and it turned out looking awesome I think. I want all the projects I make to be a set, so I'm glazing them all similarly, and I'm excited to see how everything else I make and glaze will all look! Now I just need to start on making a bunch of plates...

This week was great! I asked Mrs. Heidz what I should make, and she said to make a two piece project. So I first made a little pot, and made my first lid with a whole in the top, and it turned out alright, so I felt pretty good about it. But I've really been wanting to make a teapot, so I manned up and decided to try one! My bowl/pot turned out really well, and I made a planter type lid that fits perfectlyy on top of it! Next week I'm gonna make the handle and the spout and attach them. I tried to make a spout today but I didn't have much time, so it didn't work. Also this week the bisk kiln came out!!!! I was afraid the handle would fall off of my pitcher but all but two of my projects were successfully bisked and are now ready to glaze!
